Develop the safeguarding knowledge and confidence needed to protect children and fulfil your responsibilities as a childminder and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

This course is specifically designed for childminders and covers recognising and responding to abuse and neglect, recording and reporting concerns, safeguarding procedures, safer working practices and the responsibilities of the DSL.

Aligned to the safeguarding training criteria in Annex C of the EYFS statutory framework for childminders.

Study flexibly through Clarence Green College LMS and receive a certificate following successful completion.

The course covers key safeguarding responsibilities relevant to childminding practice, including:

  • Understanding safeguarding and child protection

  • Recognising signs and indicators of abuse and neglect

  • Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and disclosures

  • Recording, reporting and referring concerns

  • Understanding the role and responsibilities of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

  • Managing allegations and safeguarding concerns

  • Safer working practices

  • Online safety and emerging safeguarding risks

  • Working with parents, professionals and safeguarding agencies

  • Understanding relevant safeguarding policies and procedures
