The objective of this qualification is to support a role in the workplace such as registered managers of a service or unit, or deputy or assistant managers. The qualification forms the competence requirements for those learners working in adult care settings at level 5.

The content is appropriate for learners who work in adult social care and have responsibility for leading and managing a service. This will include managing and improving care and support for those accessing the service, supporting and developing the workforce and driving the vision for their service or organisation. Primarily, the qualification aims to support the development of registered managers of adult social care services, specifically those new to the role.

The qualification aims to develop learners’ knowledge and skills in leading and managing adult social care provision and teams, responsibilities of leaders and managers, improvement and innovation, communication, values and behaviours, health and safety and professional behaviours of leaders and managers.
